Tim Sevenhuysen.com My ardent exploit to make the world slightly less tranquil.

The Grocery Fund

The goal of the Grocery Fund is to earn enough money each month by selling my self-published writing to pay my family's grocery bills.

Currently our food budget is $300 per month.

January:
$300 FULLY FUNDED

February:
$300 FULLY FUNDED
March:
$222.80
April:
$52.44
May:

Updated May 17, 2012

Any money earned beyond a given month's grocery budget will be rolled over to the following month.

About the Grocery Fund

For years, it's been my dream to be a full-time author. In late 2011 I decided to start actively pursuing that dream. That doesn't mean I'm not working a "day job" to support my family in the meantime; it does mean I am actively looking for opportunities to turn fiction into my day job.

Right now, in between completing research contracts for the government, I am writing fiction virtually full-time. In addition to working on two ongoing series (Special People and Losing Freight), I'm putting out a short story every Monday, maintaining my 50-Word Stories site, and trying to make headway on a novel. I am taking my creative aspirations very seriously.

There's no way I can keep writing this much unless I'm able to convert my creative productivity into income. In order to reach my long-term dream of supporting my family entirely through my writing career, I'm going to need to hit a lot of smaller financial targets along the way.

The Grocery Fund is the first of those targets. If I can sell enough of my writing through my Store to pay our monthly grocery budget of $300, that will be a big step towards achieving my dream.

How You Can Help:

There's no way I can achieve my dream without a lot of help from my friends and fans. If you enjoy my writing and want to see more of it in the future, please help me take this step towards reaching my goal. There are two different ways you can contribute:

With a Dollar

With a Minute

  • Share one of my stories or one of my sites with your friends, online or in person. Every conversation, tweet, and Facebook post is a big help!
  • If you've read one of my stories or books, leave a quick review/rating for it on Amazon. Reviews only take a minute or two to write, but they go a long way towards bringing in more eyes and more customers.
  • Say hi to me on Twitter, Facebook, or Google+. It's a big encouragement to hear from all of you, and encouragement is currency to a creative person like me. Don't be shy!

I know many of you are already doing these things, and I thank you so much for that. Your support means the world to me, and I hope I get to keep providing you with new stories to read in the future.

Sincerely,

Tim Sevenhuysen
