Getting Back in the Swing of Things

Remember when I used to write all kinds of stuff and share it on this blog?

Seems like a long time ago, but I’m finally starting to get back into some of that. The ball has been starting to roll again over the last couple of weeks…

Here are a couple of things I’ve got on the go right now:

I’ve also got some thoughts to share on a couple of movies I watched recently, so I’ll try to put that together soon.

Pirate Week Contest at 50-Word Stories

I bet you love pirates. Everyone loves pirates!

If you aren’t a regular reader of FiftyWordStories.com, you may not have heard about the upcoming Pirate Week that will be happening there between February 20 and 24. It’s going to be awesome. I’m going to be posting tons of pirate-themed stories sent in to me from all over the place, along with a few that I’m going to write myself.

Plus there’s a contest! The authors of my three favourite stories are going to win some really cool prizes. Here’s the list:

Read up on the full contest rules and enter now! The deadline is February 17.

Volume Two in the Kindle Store, and a Publication

A couple of writing-related updates today. First, if you haven’t seen it already, Fifty-Word Stories: Volume Two is now available in the Kindle Store! Here’s the link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MJG3BO. It’s only $2.99, and even if you don’t own a Kindle you can still read it on your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android phone, etc., by downloading the great free Kindle app.

In other news, a Twitter-length story of mine called “Brushstrokes” was posted to OneFortyFiction today. You can read it here. Hope you enjoy it! It was a fun one to write, and evolved a lot from the first version into the published one. With such a short length limit, you have to be really sure that every single word is working as hard as it can to get the story across.

I’ll have another update tomorrow with some details about the things I’ve written this week and what I’ve been doing with them.
